Midnight Circuit

A dark, neon-lit trap record built for late-night rotation — rolling 808s, granular texture and a mix as wide as the city it was written for.

Overview

Nova Rey arrived with a voice memo and a mood: headlights, half-empty streets, something pulling her forward. We built the instrumental around that forward motion — a sub-bass pattern that never sits still, hats that flicker like signs passing a car window, and a topline pocket wide enough for her delivery to live in.

The challenge

The demo had energy but no weight: thin low end, drums fighting the vocal, and a hook that disappeared on small speakers. The record needed to hit in the club and still translate on a phone — without losing its airy, after-hours feel.

Approach

We re-programmed the drums from scratch, tuned the 808 to the vocal, and layered granular noise under the verses so the quiet parts still move. The mix keeps the low end mono-solid while pads and ad-libs stretch to the edges — pulse, texture and motion in that order.
